Six A-10Cs of a new ANG "Rainbow Team" landed at Lajes Field en route to Afghanistan

According to Warthog News contributor Fábio Pinheiro from Portugal, six A-10C landed at Lajes Field, Azores, today around 16:30 GMT.

As previously reported on the Dutch Scramble Messageboard, they left Martin State Airport Air Guard Station, Baltimore, Maryland, as Mazda 41-46. Mazda 47 was an air spare and returned. Mazda 51-54 were cancelled.

The aircraft package must be a mix of A-10Cs from the 104th Fighter Squadron, 175th Wing (Maryland Air National Guard), Martin State Airport Air Guard Station, Baltimore, Maryland (tailcode MD), and from the 184th Fighter Squadron, 188th Fighter Wing (Arkansas Air National Guard), Fort Smith Regional Airport, Arkansas (tailcode FS).

I'm hopeful to get some Lajes stopover pics for first-hand aircraft identification.

Looks like this ANG "Rainbow Team" will also deploy to the 451st Air Expeditionary Wing at Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan, to replace the 354th Expeditionary Fighter Squadron after their six-month OEF combat deployment.

BTW: The official designation of this "rainbowed" ANG A-10C EFS is still unknown to me.
