Freedom Park Aircraft Wash

U.S. Air Force volunteers from the 57th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron and the 757th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron wash the bottom of an A-10 Thunderbolt II static display July 29, 2011, at Nellis Air Force Base, Nev. The volunteers were tasked with cleaning and inspecting the static display aircraft at Freedom park for the first time, the goal is to create a regular cleaning schedule for the aircraft to help prevent corrosion and pro-long their lifespan. Note the plaque's inscription: The A-10 on display is actually #77-0255. This A-10 was assigned to the 706th Fighter Squadron, NAS New Orleans, LA, and flew in Operation DESERT STORM in 1991. This aircraft is on loan from the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force.
